Understanding How Your Insurance Works
Blue Creek Psychotherapy is in network with most commercial insurance plans. We bill your primary insurance following each service if we are in network with your plan. Please note that some insurance plans outsource their behavioral health benefits to a different organization we may not be in network with. We always encourage folks to confirm mental health benefits by calling the number on the back of their insurance card.
What do I owe for services?
Your insurance plan determines this. There are typically 3 ways your insurance charges you:
Co-pay: This is a set amount to be charged per appointment. Co-pay amounts vary based on your plan’s rate for outpatient therapy. Your insurance will cover the remaining balance that the co-pay doesn’t cover.
Co-insurance: This is typically a % of the contracted rate you are responsible for paying, per your plan. Your insurance plan will cover the remaining balance the co-insurance doesn’t cover.
Deductible: Many insurance plans require you to pay the full amount of each service until a set dollar amount determined by your plan is satisfied per year. Once you have paid your full deductible amount set by your plan, insurance will often cover the cost of service until the following year when your deductible resets again.
It is important to note that you are responsible for charges not covered by your insurance plan. Therefore, it’s highly encouraged to familiarize with the details of your plan including any outsourced benefits, covered services, and any out-of-pocket costs.
We are happy to discuss your benefits if you have any questions!
